Today is the start of my hosting WED, so below, find all that stuff.  Briefly, in related news, I got another story acceptance, which was super exciting, as it was a venue I really liked the look of.  I need to still sign the contract and such but I will be doing that tomorrow, so yay!

Anyway, onto the WED stuff...

What is Write Every Day?

Write Every Day is a challenge where you make the effort to well, write every day.  A host (me!) is responsible for putting up a post each day in a month for you to come check in, talk about your writing (or lack of), cheer people on and all that jazz.  The host will keep a tally of people who've been writing and will put up that tally on the next day's post as a way to encourage people ot keep a streak going..

Checking in every day isn't mandatory though!  However, if you want to come drop into the comments and flail about your troubles with writing, that's perfectly acceptable as well.

What I personally enjoy about this challenge is that there's no minimum word count.  People do alibi sentences and that still counts.  The point is to chip away a little each day, so even if you only write a few words, it still counts and that is awesome.

Goals:

If you have some goals you'd like to share for the month, feel free to do so  This is a big writing month for so many people because of NaNo but I personally am not shooting for that goal.  Instead, I'm aiming to get four to six short stories drafted and edited by the end of the month.  We'll see how it goes but I have hope!

What are you aiming to accomplish this month?  And if you have no goals, that's fine too.  Do whatever works best for you.

Today's Writing:

I didn't get much sleep last night, so I'm posting this early, that way I can nap.  I got about 900 words of my 'Queer lady makes friends with ghosts and eventually the living' story and talked about working on a few other things over the next few months with friends and for myself.

Not too bad, considering I was having a hell of a time starting my brain up today.

How did you guys do?  Anything interesting pop up in your writing today?   And if you couldn't get words out, what's got you stuck? Maybe someone in the comments might have some helpful hints.

1720 NaNo words. So far.

Mind you, 1078 of them are describing actions and dialogue, not writing them. But what-the-fuck-ever, you know?

Also if anyone drops by who knows Sailor Moon Classic, or any other well-known anime (or anime that it would be reasonable to expect that Adrien Agreste, anime junkie, has seen), well enough to pick out an episode or three that contains successful flirtatious (bonus points if it's f/f) and point me at the episode? Please. Thanks. (I am pretty sure I have the whole run of Sailor Moon Classic on an external hard drive. Also Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters and Naruto, but I don't think those help. Anything else, please to be something I can easily and preferablly legally find online in English dub or sub.)

First - congrats on your story acceptance! *twirls you*

Second - you're doing a November Coffeehouse! WHEEEEEE!!!

I'm going back and forth on Nano, tbh. I have a project - writing essays to jumpstart the book on Creature Features that I intend to write - but at the moment I'm more interested in playing around on the mini-nano comm over on LJ. My daily goal there is 500 words, and I'm setting a tentative goal of using as many of the six daily word prompts as I can to reach/surpass my goals. Today I've managed 4 of the 6, written 575 words. Two snips slot into stories I have in the WiP folder, the third is potentially a seed bit of characterization for a relatively silent OC.

After a month/ month and a half of little to no writing, this is wicked promising.

Thanks for hosting this. I like the sounds of your story. I'm working on my nano and somehow managed 5001 words today. I have no idea how.

Thanks for hosting!

My main goal is to finish my HL Holiday Shortcuts exchange story by the end of the month, instead of the night before it's due.

I'll probably keep plugging along at the nonfiction project I'm working on (turn in the first draft and then keep going), and the bookshop novel I'm... noodling around with. The way I've been doing for months.

And I might do something else, off and on.

As for today, I worked hard on the nonfiction thing, more research than writing, since I found a new vein of information. (Yay? Or headdesk?)

As someone whose original fiction tends towards the historical (either straightforward historical or some kind of historical SFF), that is a very familiar reaction! Good luck!

Thank you for hosting this month!

I was having an angsty day at work, and relieved some of that angst by writing a bit of a scene in the blank pages of my planner, for the novel that I thought I was putting on worldbuilding hold. I clearly don't know which novel I'm working on. Maybe I just have to work on more than one at once? I don't know how many words because I didn't type them up yet, and I don't yet have a general idea of how many words per page I write in the planner, as I do with my regular writing notebook.

Then in the evening I took yet another of the cuddle themed prompts I've been having fun with, and wrote 583 words on a new one. At some point I should probably start editing and posting these cuddle ficlets, but at the moment I'm having fun writing that one.

I signed up for [community profile] mini_wrimo to write at least 300 words every day, so there's that for goals. Real NaNoWriMo goals are too high for me, but that one is manageable but should still push me to work a little more on my stories than I sometimes do. For more definite goals: Write my [community profile] public_call assignment, finish and post some of those prompt ficlets I've been writing, and hopefully start properly working on one novel manuscript or another.

Ooh, your queer lady ghost story sounds great! I'd love to read such a story! I've been thinking about writing queer ghost stories, too, or just generally queer Gothic fiction.

Also, congratulations on your story acceptance, that's super awesome!

Your queer lady ghost story sounds wonderful! Congrats on your story acceptance. <3

I did 1300 words towards NaNo. Kinda frustrated with myself? Probably unfairly. I just want to finish this fic already but I'm such a slow writer. It's something I've been working on since 2016, it's currently 35k+. I need to finish it before 22nd November, which is my Big Bang deadline. I was hoping NaNo would get me to speed up a bit, but that didn't work on Day 1.

Congrats on the story acceptance--that's awesome! Thank you for hosting this month too!

For 11/1 I wrote 327 words on the Loki/Thor fanfic that ate my life for the entire month of October. I'm almost done with the first draft, I think. My goal for November is to finish this story and then finish the story I was writing when Loki/Thor ambushed me. That one's an original novelette. I'm not Nano-ing this year. I did that for ten years and loved it each and every time, but when I began to focus on short fiction, I gave it up. I still love hearing about other people's adventures, though, so I'm especially excited for it. :-)

Thank you for hosting!

I had a slower start into the month than I wanted to - just a little over 100 words.

My main goal for November is to finally get back into the swing and write more than a few paragraphs at a time ... Also, I have two deadlines ([community profile] holmestice and [community profile] public_call), and I need to brainstorm for my Yuletide fic.

I'm doing NaNo this month, sixth time in a row, and I hope to manage it more or less well, although this time my writing conditions are more unfavourable than at any of my previous NaNos. Lots of physical as well as desk work awaiting me, and to top it all off I fell and smashed my knee yesterday, which means any of the physical tasks will take longer or being more complicated for a couple of days.
I'm rebelling for NaNo, as I want to work at three projects simultaneously: continue editing my major fannish WIP which I'm working at since early summer; write the first draft for a short novel which I hope to eventually publish, and writing another fannish story inspired by Whumptober prompts. I started off well enough, too, with 2028 words on the 1st.

Late checkin just for goal accountability purposes - don't add me to the Nov 1 tally belatedly or anything as I didn't manage any words - but I'm doing Nano with an original lesbian romance novel that I've had roughly planned out for ages now, so fingers crossed it'll be relatively easy to get underway. I really wanted to get a finished full first draft of a novel by the end of this year, and Nano's pretty much my last chance to get enough of it done that it's doable to finish it up in December, so... fingers crossed! I also have Public Call and I'm still working on my multifandomtrope fic which is due... sooner than I'd like, and I'm not sure if I'll get it done at this rate, but my dcu_bang is also not as far along as I want it to be. But there's no penalty for dropping that last one, so it might be first off the to-do list. I was hoping to finish a late treat for Trick or Treat before author reveals, but at this rate that's also not happening, sigh.

Also thanks for hosting us this month (it's your first time hosting yeah? I hope you have fun with it! :D) and congrats on the story acceptance hee!
