hello my old heart, where have you been?
Oct. 5th, 2019 10:37 amSo, if you follow
fullupwithfire you know things have not been great. Finances are going between bad and worse back to bad and I....Am tired.
Between that and seasonal survivors guilt, which is how I've started describing the feelings around my birthday, I'm just ready for the end of October.
If anyone is inclined, please leave love, happy things, or whatever you feel like. I've been distant and unmoored lately, so reminding myself this is a place I can exist in would be good.

Date: 2019-10-05 04:40 pm (UTC)I have two knitted kitties who make me very happy! Here's the first and the second. They sit on my bed, where I spend the majority of my time. I like to give them pats on the head when I pass by them.
Good news

Date: 2019-10-05 06:10 pm (UTC)Here's a poem I like:
"Nurture" by Maxine Kumin
From a documentary on marsupials I learn
that a pillowcase makes a fine
substitute pouch for an orphaned kangaroo.
I am drawn to such dramas of animal rescue.
They are warm in the throat. I suffer, the critic proclaims,
from an overabundance of maternal genes.
Bring me your fallen fledgling, your bummer lamb,
lead the abused, the starvelings, into my barn.
Advise the hunted deer to leap into my corn.
And had there been a wild child—
filthy and fierce as a ferret, he is called
in one nineteenth-century account—
a wild child to love, it is safe to assume,
given my fireside inked with paw prints,
there would have been room.
Think of the language we two, same and not-same,
might have constructed from sign,
scratch, grimace, grunt, vowel:
Laughter our first noun, and our long verb, howl.
If you enjoy poetry, my poetry tag has quite a few posted, once you scroll past the entries that have links to articles about poetry. Wendelah's poetry tag
The first entry is "A Blessing" by James Wright, which I love.
I'm a Libra, too. October 8.

Date: 2019-10-05 06:56 pm (UTC)this is a playlist I made a few years ago of songs that make me happy. it's very eclectic!
and here is one with songs that are calm to me, though your experience may vary. (as might mine; I'd forgotten I'd even made this!)
