Air quality was better this week, so I actually managed to get out of the house more, yay! And I've gotten my game idea to the point where I'm running my first solo on Saturday if my brain cooperates (*crosses fingers*). I'm very excited about finally getting back to running games!

I got some fucking CURVE BALL news this week. Remember the job I got that was supposed to be a done deal? I found out today that job is only for 6 months and my hiring manager was all, "Sorry if it wasn't explained clearly the first time."

Friends. I asked this girl POINT BLANK if it was a long term position and if I would be hired after six months and she said yes! Now, all of a sudden, it's "6 months, with the POTENTIAL to get hired." Whatever.

I spoke to my uncle about it and he helped me figure out how to spend this time to get the best outcome. It isn't ideal, but we're hoping that it can lead somewhere better.

went to urgent care today at

beatrice_otter's urging. they sent me straight to chiropractor. am all :O face that it actually helped. medical suspicion is I overextended some muscular or ligamenty thing by sitting six hours plane seat, but they are confident it is not a nerve issue, which is pleasing unto them bc apparently that'd be worse. I am however to watch for a list of issues that would signal a nerve issue. prescription other than chiropractor: take moar Tylenol, also hot showers.

(also hot baths except tbh the tub in this apartment is...)

alatefeline's or partner's housekeeping, okay, my own is shittastic and this issue might well be about as much their fault as the fuckening roaches in my just-vacated apartment were mine? but like. I ain't putting my bare ass in a tubful of water in that tub until it is thoroughly scrubbed and sanitized!)

I found a half dozen or so potential livingplaces on Facebook Marketplace and also one through a FB friend

...how I evaluate which to seriously consider, please? obv must physically visit those I'm seriously considering, but

(also: fell right the fuck in love with this one house for rent—but it requires ~2 roommates to split the rent with, at least one of whom must love gardening bc otherwise what a waste, so that's the highest difficulty of the places I've saved on FB Marketplace even though, assuming two roommates and equal rent split, it's the third cheapest and has many lots improve over at least one of the cheaper two, probably both, and also at least some improve over all the more spendy ones)

I found a yarn store an' a couple parks an' the liberry an' I haven't been to Multnomah Arts Center yet but I know it's there and I shall be venturing thataways in the not too distant future (same goes for Powell's)

I gotta set up Social Meets with all my localfrand (special highlight Victory of Hellenion bc reasons)

You asked for housing evaluation things so here are some! Please ignore if you didn't actually WANT any.

First, figure out what you MUST have and filter for that. Like, my non-negotiable things are an in-apartment washer and dryer and a room of my own. Good things to have are allows pets (my cat is technically an emotional support animal so I can fight that fight if I HAVE to), a balcony, and more than one bathroom. So like, I would love a place that had those good things, but they're not strictly necessary, whereas I NEED an in-apartment washer and dryer.

Second, here's a bunch of really good questions to ask: right at this link. And check for outlets that work. We had a real problem in our last place with not enough outlets. And phone coverage, we forgot about that at this place. And emphasizing parking from the link's list. Parking is your friend.

I am not currently possessed of a car (and nor do I particularly relish the thought of driving in this city) so I am more concerned about transit access than parking. But I hear you. :) I also have 0 dishes atm—my entire kitchen is on long-term loan to my youngest sister and her favorite cousin, who are renting an apartment together at the university both attend, and frankly (bar the Pampered Chef stuff and the rainbow knife set middle sister gave me) I could hardly care less about getting any of it back—so there's that. :)

alatefeline looked at the lot just now and thinks there's something badly wrong with the house—which I already kinda suspected from the rent figure? but y'know—and suggested two of the others to follow up on, with preference to the one that's cheaper-but-farther. They also recommend looking at sites that aren't Facebook Marketplace, which is entirely reasonable! That just happened to be the thing that happened to show me a thing last night—kinda wish FB would let me opt out of seeing Marketplace on homepage on desktop view altogether, but—that prompted me to go look closer at things.

Sparkly green!

I have here CoverGirl Outlast in sapphire flare and Revlon something or other in Rebel Graffiti. The light in here is shit, mind you, and will remain so until maintenance deals with the overhead fixture, but the sapphire flare is a lovely deep blue—somewhere on the navy side of royal—and the Rebel Graffiti is, if it were sparkly I'd call it glitter: it's black and white dots in clear. Not sure whether I want to actually use it or just do the blue, though. Might do just blue on my toenails (bc As You Know Bob, toenail polish is a long-term commitment) and do both on my fingernails ('cause that isn't)?

TERRIBLE. My uncle told me that, on the bright side, I know what the truth is now, so I won't be blind-sided in 6 months. The recruiter also told me that, I can leave any time I want, as long as I give my two week's notice. It isn't IDEAL, but it isn't the absolute worst.

I know it is not Friday any more and my headspace is weird at the moment: but, I hit 40,000 words on the current work in progress yesterday, and that is good and makes finishing it viable. And I made myself send novel No. 2 to a publisher on Friday, which is the first time it has been out in the wild.
